Everyone wants to know how to live without stress—everyone. Life is such a hustle bustle these days, anything you can do to eliminate even a little stress adds to your enjoyment of life. These five tips will get you there.
1. Define exactly what living without stress means to you. You may first have to think about how you feel when you know you are stressed and then write down the opposite – how you wish you felt instead. Describe how your world and each situation looks without stress in it.
Take time to look all across your life – both personal and professional. After all stress rears its head pretty much any where at any time – when you allow it to do so.
When you actually live stress-free what do you do? How do you spend your day? How do you relax and enjoy life? How is your health? Get it all down.
2. Take each area of your life, one by one. List three steps you can take, starting today, to move yourself from the stress level you currently experience to the new you described in detail in step one.
If you feel stuck and can only think of one right now then write down the one and come back to it. Your subconscious will work on that step while you move ahead.
Oh yes, it is okay (in fact encouraged) to list more than three action steps.
3. Now ask the Universe to assist you in removing stress from each situation. Put out your desire to live stress-free in each situation and then, after you make that request end each one with the words, “This or something better.”
You see the Universe does the how that fulfils on your what. If you tell the Universe your how to do it and how to make it look you limit what the Universe can deliver to you. You may be asking for what the Universe knows to be good. Ah, but the Universe, God, Creator, may know something better it can deliver to you.
4. After making your request and noting the ”something better” line then let go of your request and go about your day. You see, once you ask for something you change. You become a different person who acts differently.
No, you don’t look any different. Just know the person who lived in stress is not the same person who requested an end to the stress. Make sense?
The moment you made the request it manifested for you. The Universe will deliver it to you as soon as your vibration level is in harmony with your request AND it is in your highest and best interest.
5. Focus on living stress-free. You speed up the manifesting by pretending you already live that way.
Make the choices and interpretation a person who lives without stress makes. Think the thoughts a stress-free person makes. The new you can do so. It just takes living consciously in the now.
Some people say that stress is part of life. Their paradigm sees it as inevitable and unavoidable.
You can choose to live your life that way. I prefer knowing that I control my thoughts and how my world looks.
I am not saying nothing stressful will ever arise in your life. I am saying you can step back and change our interpretation of anything that pressures you or freaks you out. Know you can find a way to interpret life events so everything that happens serves your highest and best interest – in the big picture.
Even when awful things happen, after you calm your racing heart and return your breathing to deep full slow breaths then you can change your view of whatever horrific event happened.
More importantly, you can see the solutions that always come with the challenge, After all, there are no obstacles only opportunities.
People call that way of thinking Pollyanna thinking. They say that thinking positively doe snot work. And they are right. Positive thinking is, as I witness it in others, a way of hiding from the truth, sugar-coating it as if nothing is wrong and all is perfect.
Positive thinking does not work. But then negative thinking does not work either. Why in the world do people call reality the negative interpretation of life?
No, neither negative nor positive thinking will move you out of stress and into happiness. That path requires accurate thinking.
What is accurate thinking?
Events just are what they are. They have no meaning. You give them meaning. You give an event one meaning and I give that exact same event an entirely different meaning.
So now who is right? Both of us and neither of us.
My interpretation fits for me while yours fits for you. Yet neither is an accurate view of what actually transpired.
Accurate thinking ends all strife forever because it leads you to the only and perfect truth that there is no where to go and nothing to get. Life simply is what life is. What happens happens.
You can feel wigged out about what happens. Or you can accept what happens. Which thought leads you to the emotions that then move you to the appropriate action for you? By appropriate I mean the action that leaves you feeling really good, at peace and – therefore without stress?
Do you see that your thoughts make the deciding factor as to whether or not you live in stress?
Ready to do something about it?
Many people suffer severe stress at work. Diverse elements contribute to that experience.
First and foremost, in today’s economy, people will tell you they are so glad to have a job they continue working in their jobs even though they completely hate everything about the job. They hate the work. They hate the environment. They hate the people. They hate the product or service they provide.
Yikes! When you hold so much negative energy it is a wonder they don’t fall over with a heart attack from holding in so much negative energy!
Hmm. Many do – wind up with heart attacks, that is.
The first thing to do to reduce stress at work is to do something you love. Do something that is in alignment with your core values.
The bottom line is that you cannot succeed to any great extent when your work does not directly support your core values. You probably will not succeed at all if you work against what you hold dear in your value system.
Your work environment can create stress without you even knowing it is happening. Today’s modern buildings tend to be energy efficient, which means they are airtight. No air exchange happens between inside and outside air
What does that mean for you?
If your inside air continues to recirculate all day long the germs and lower oxygen in it will impact your energy level which in turn will lower your efficiency and leave you feeling not so good without knowing why.
You may be sitting on a chair that does not allow you to sit comfortably while supporting your posture. Poor posture leads to spinal misalignment which leads to all kinds of health issues.
And then there is that computer. Is the monitor at the proper distance and on the best angle for your eyes? How about the keyboard? Is it where it needs to be, ergonomically speaking?
Do you have space to get up and walk around every half hour? Your eyes and body need that break when you read on a screen all day.
And if you do look at a computer screen all day your eyes may feel less stressed with specially made computer glasses. Pinhole glasses are available online. Prescription glasses that differ from your ordinary glasses may help too. A developmental or behavioral optometrist can make you such a pair.
If you do find yourself working at a job that goes against or fails to support any of your core values then continue to do your very best at this present job while looking for and requesting (from the Universe) the job you really want.
When you know how to tackle and defeat stress in your world then you can feel happy and great regardless of what is going on in your world.
Things will go bump in the night and in the daytime too. Life never flows in a smooth downstream direction. At best it meanders, even when it flows downstream.
How those events that pop up impact you depends entirely on you and how you choose to interpret them.
Do you ignore them and go on about your business considering them to be simple little nuisances that do not really have an effect on what you are doing?
While that thought may seem true on a surface level I caution you to remember that everything happens for a beautiful and Divine reason. Every little and every big thing. Nothing happens by accident. So that little accident was no accident at all.
Remember we are all connected to each other and to everything. We are one single energy, part of the Creator, God, Universe. Whatever we do impacts everyone else and vice versa.
Realize that whatever you do to others eventually comes right back to you – maybe multiplied many times over in how deeply it affects you.
Most people spend their time in their heads listening to the Little Voice tell them all about life while they experience it. Often the Little Voice reminds you about your past, especially about hurts and events that turned out bad or even scary.
The thing is, you listen to that Little Voice. In fact you do so automatically. You have been doing it for so long you don’t even know you do it.
Your Little Voice, right now is telling you to stop reading this article because all this is nonsense. Do you hear it saying something like that?
It is not your true voice at all.
That Little Voice censors everything you experience telling you if you agree with or like it, dislike it or think it is hogwash, etc.
Hmm. Hear it talking to you about these words and concepts?
What if, instead of listening to the Little Voice tell you about life you just experienced life in each moment.?
That practice (and it will take practice to break your life long habit of being led around by the Little Voice) is called conscious living. Living in the present moment and paying attention to what you actually feel, hear, see, taste and touch will feel like a totally new and different experience from listening to everything being described and judged by the Little Voice. By the way, that Little Voice prevents you from forming your own opinion of anything!
Want to live your life without stress? Tell your Little Voice, “Thank you for sharing. “ It will usually stop chatting. You may need to tell it that often. It will stop each time. Once you get the hang of it you will notice a marked difference in your freedom to truly enjoy your life in each moment. Joy will replace stress.
What some people define as stressful others barely notice. In fact some people derive great joy doing activities that cause high stress levels in others. (Think roller coasters.)
Why do you allow yourself to feel stress when certain events happen? Do you always feel the same degree of stress from the same stimulus or does your level vary according to other factors like time of day, who you may or may not be with, how you feel physically or emotionally, etc.
Stop and think about what is going on in your head when you find yourself “up against it,” just short of freaking out. Seriously, take a step back and look at your thought process.
After all, your thoughts create your emotions that create your actions (or the lack of action) that lead to results. Then you start the cycle again by interpreting, with your thoughts, the results of the previous action.
Notice that word interpreting. Therein lies the key to why you find certain circumstances stressful while others simply do not bother you in the least.
Nothing has any meaning. Nothing anyone says or does has any meaning except for the meaning that you assign to it. How do you assign a meaning? You choose to view the circumstance as good or bad, happy or sad, right or wrong, etc.
You choose with your own mind using your own thought process.
What if you made those choices with awareness? What if you decided that you prefer feeling good in certain circumstances that currently leave you feeling overwhelmed or tense or pressured?
For me, growing up and living most of my life as a shy person the thought of a party invitation was enough to raise my freak out level to the max! If you have never been intensely shy you have no clue how such a thing could happen, right?
Well that doesn’t matter because the issue was mine to deal with. And I did. I saw myself as feeling good in new situations. I saw myself enjoying parties and making new friends.
Bottom line – I saw myself liking party invitations.
My thoughts changed a huge stressor into a joyful event.
No one could have talked me into liking parties. No one could have talked me out of being shy. Those were choices I made because, quite frankly, I prefer feeling great to feeling scared or anxious.
Feeling stressed is a choice people make. You can make different choices.
